What it is
What is Starfeed?
Starfeed is our Shopping feed optimisation tool. It reads every product in your Google Merchant Centre and improves how each one is described to Google: titles, descriptions, categories and labels. Your shop stays in charge of price and stock.
What is a supplemental feed?
A supplemental feed (Google calls it a supplemental data source) is extra product data that Merchant Centre reads alongside your own feed. Starfeed writes approved changes into one through Google’s API, so they show within minutes, and it overrides only how products are described. It never replaces your own feed, and price and stock always come from your shop.
Which shops does Starfeed work with?
Any shop whose products are in Google Merchant Centre, whatever it is built on. Starfeed reads your products from Merchant Centre, with no product limit, and reads them again every morning so new products are picked up. You add us to your Merchant Centre once, with Standard access. Not in Merchant Centre yet? On Google Ads Lite and above we set it up for you.
How does Starfeed improve my product titles?
You can edit titles yourself, one at a time or in bulk, or build rules that run on every product. Starfeed can also suggest titles and descriptions that use the search terms from your own Google Ads account for that product, for up to 300 products a month. Nothing changes until it is approved.
Using Starfeed
What does Starfeed show me about each product?
Its Google Ads clicks, spend, sales and ROAS for the last 30 days, whether it has had any impressions, Google’s benchmark price for it, whether it is in Google’s best sellers, and any problem Google has with it.
What are custom labels for?
Custom labels tag your products, for example bestsellers, products with no impressions, high and low margin, and price bands. Your Shopping and Performance Max campaigns can then be split by label, to put budget where the profit is.
Can Starfeed cause a price mismatch?
No. Price and stock always come from your shop’s own feed, and Starfeed never changes them.
Do I have to do it myself?
No. You can use Starfeed yourself in Mission Control, or your account manager can set it up, write the rules, review the suggestions and keep the feed healthy while you approve changes in batches, like social posts. You can also let your account manager publish without asking. Starter has no account manager, so it is self-serve there, with help from our UK team.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Every change is kept in a full history for each product, with one-click undo, and nothing reaches Google until it is approved. If you ask, we can also take every Starfeed change off Google at once.
